Psst… have you entered my giveaway yet?
I have been hearing about the latest fitness craze – Zumba – for a while without really knowing anything about it. So when I was offered the chance to test out the Zumba Fitness Target Zones DVD I jumped at the chance.
I have a love/hate relationship with fitness DVDs. I have bought many – usually persuaded by the flat stomached celebrity on the cover, by claims of instant weight loss and by the promise of easy results. I usually use them for a week or so and then confine them to the DVD rack to gather dust.
So would Zumba Fitness be any different? Well I was immediately drawn by the information on the back which promised an ‘effective and exhilarating workout’ . The DVD focuses on key areas Abs & Legs, Cardio & Glutes, and Arms & Obliques. Each section is around 25 minutes long which is a great length to fit in at home as it can be done while dinner is cooking, while the baby naps etc.
Zumba itself is a dance inspired workout which gets your whole body moving to burn calories. Now believe me when I say I am not a dancer. I have no natural rhythm for dancing and am terrible at remembering steps. Thankfully for this workout that is not an issue. The first few times I did the workout I just concentrated on moving to the music, but as the days have gone on I have found myself actually doing the moves like on the DVD! A miracle!
This is a great speedy workout and really gets my heart rate going on days when I can’t make it to the gym. For more information visit the Zumba Fitness website.
